The 10 Cultures of Thinking Mindsets
As useful as tools and practices are, they are insufficient when it comes to creating a culture of thinking. Tools can’t do the heavy lifting, and eventually all tools will fail. Our actions in the classroom are motivated by our beliefs, values, and mindsets. So what are the mindsets that teachers who are successful at creating a culture of thinking have? As part of the Learning to Think, Thinking to Learn project we identified 10 key mindsets that act as motivators for the actions of teachers and school leaders. These mindsets are grounded in a solid base of research from neuroscience and psychology and speak to how we understand the mechanisms of teaching, learning, and effective education.
