and come away inspired to advance the Culture of Thinking at Your School

In advance of the Cultures of Thinking Summit you will create your personalized event schedule by selecting Deep Dive and Breakout sessions that best fit your needs and interests.  Each day will include times in which we to come together as a community to explore big ideas related to building and growing a culture of thinking. In addition, rich learning will happen through the informal conversations and connections you form with other like minds who are also on this journey to transform their schools and classrooms. Though the Summit official ends on Saturday afternoon, two optional days of learning are provided for those who want to stay on.

Launch Your Learning

  • Friday, January 30th 3:30pm-8:30pm

  • Opening Plenary with Ron Ritchhart

  • Deep Dive Session (approximately 2.5 hours) to explore CoT practices in a hands-on, minds-on immersive experience

  • Dinner and a chance to meet and mingle with educators from around the world.

Dig into Frameworks, Ideas, and Practices

  • Saturday, January 31st, 8:30am-4:30pm

  • Opening Plenary with Mark Church

  • Select the two Breakout Sessions (approximately 75 minutes) that meet your needs and pique your interest. Engage in hands-on learning in small groups.

  • Participate in the World Cafe to explore questions and problems of practice that are of interest to you or find a quiet space to meet and plan with colleagues.

  • Breakfast and Lunch included

Adventures in San Diego

  • Sunday, February 1st (Optional Day) 12:00pm-2:00pm

  • Those staying on in San Diego will have the option to choose from a curated collection of two-hour Guided Learning Sessions at one of San Diego’s cultural attractions to explore how we can promote deeper learning in non-school settings.

Classroom Observations

  • Monday, February 2nd, 9:00am-2:00pm

  • Engage in a Photo Safari to explore how teachers at Pacific Sky School have made thinking visible and created an environment that supports thinking and encourages agency.

  • Use the Snapshot Observation Protocol to observe in real classrooms and use your observations to reflect on your own teaching and leadership.
